- Abstract
The 15-GHz VLBA Survey now has about 100 superluminal sources. About 50
of these have been monitored at 22 and 37 GHz by the Metsähovi group,
who have published intrinsic temperatures and variability Doppler factors
for them. The combined velocity and variability data are consistent with
a relativistic origin for both the high speed and the rapid variability,
in that the ratio of velocity to variability Doppler factor is consistent
with Monte-Carlo simulations. The intrinsic temperature appears to be
about 2x1010 K, and the Lorentz factors range up to about 40.
