New Secondary Focus Receiver at 3.6 cm

18.10.01/jn

The 3.6cm receiver in the secondaray focus of the telescope has been replaced by a completely new designed system. It was built by O. Lochner in Effelsberg. It is a single horn system with two opposite circularly polarized feedinputs to the two cooled receiver channels. It also has a broadband polarimeter delivering the four Stoke's Parameter.
The continuum broadband has a fixed bandwidth of 1.1 GHz. Further on one can observe with the normal smallband IF at 150 MHz and the VLBA-IF at 750 MHz.

Frequency range is:  7.8 - 8.9  GHz
Estimation of the system temperature (telescope zenith): ~ 25 K

More information will be delivered in future.
